Sayonara, Apple Remote

Most computers from Apple today come with an Apple Remote. The Apple Remote allows one to pause or play a track, skip track, adjust volume, and put the computer to sleep. In my computer-centric lifestyle, it’s a lifesaver. I, in fact, had two. I let one float around my bedroom, and the other was held by double-sided tape to a dresser next to my door. Keeping one there let me play or pause the song or podcast I was listening to the second I entered or left the room. Daily, it gave me more minutes of listening time. Nifty.

Did you notice the use of past tense? One of my two Apple Remotes met its untimely demise. I suppose they weren’t meant to make their way into the dryer. Who would have thought?

I’m ordering a replacement. It’s hard to believe that I’ve made a thirty dollar piece of plastic a cornerstone of my life.
