My Favorite Video from my Childhood

When I was really young, like, pre-school young, I had an amazing obsession with Phil Collins, which has only resurfaced in recent years.

Today, I found my favorite video from when I was a kid – it’s Phil Collins’ final song on his Farewell Tour. He’s performing Take Me Home, undoubtedly one of the greatest songs ever written. I remember watching this video over and over again on a VHS tape. To me, it’s inspiring.

My point in writing this post isn’t to get you to listening to Phil Collins. Rather, I urge you search YouTube for things you loved as a kid. You’ll be amazed and delighted at what you find.

A friend of mine is involved with a hilarious group at NYU, and I’m a huge fan of their latest song, “Spr Pkn (Super Poke)”. It makes a statement about Facebook and its culture, but really, it’s just super well done.

A few years ago, I never would have thought I’d enjoy listening to “pop” music. I suppose being a town DJ had a long-lasting impression on me.

Of course, pop is only a minor part of my music taste. Remixing is awesome.

If you’re a mac person and like fixing stuff, check out this quick review I wrote up on the iTunes Store earlier. It’s really a wonderful podcast.

Time is scarce, knowledge isn’t. Today, in an ever-decreasing timeframe, we need to know more about our computers. Although the Macintosh is worlds ahead of the PC, it has its problems. The Mac Observer’s Mac Geek Gab tackles these problems and explores new uses for our macs in an entertaining and informative way.

Its greatest asset? The podcast is divided into chapters so that listeners can quickly scan for questions that they’re interested in. Sick of hearing about networking? Skip it and move onto hard disk problems! A very well-done show, worthy of subscription.

Finding Happiness

I just read one of the greatest blog posts ever, linked to by @Pistachio, and felt that I had to share it. It’s titled Let Me Save You $40: Here’s How to Be Happy. Its approach to happiness is so pragmatic that it’s shocking. Go ahead, take three minutes and give it a read.

My favorite part? I agree with Laura (Pistachio):

There are 7 billion people on the world. You can afford to not hang out with that one again.

Raul Midon ~ All The Answers

I don’t do many posts about music, but it’s always healthy to bust one’s cycle. I was browsing TED videos while riding the school bus the other day, and came across a performance by Raul Midon. He did a song about our current state of finding information on the Internet. I loved it – check it out.

Making Better Presentations

I just read a wonderful post on 43 Folders about making better presentations. I think that every high school student in the United States should have to read this post.

Here’s the post. It’s too often that I see people plainly reading off of slides, rather than genuinely talking about a subject they either care about or have researched. It’s a shame.
