SAT Scores

Now that I feel safe posting them, here they are. I’m just putting them out there, with no intent other than disclosure.

Critical Reading: 760
Mathematics: 750
Writing: 740
Total (of 1600): 1510
Total (2400): 2250

What Do You Want?

If I didn’t tell you personally, my SAT scores increased somewhat. Suddenly, the entire face of the admissions game has changed for me. One would think higher scores would make the process easier. Not true, it’s much harder now.

My problem before has been not knowing what I want. Now, I have a better idea (small-medium campus, strong academics, engineering with solid liberal arts), but the higher score equates to higher stress.

It’s going to be a fun ride, folks. I’ll keep you posted.

SAT Scores!

My SAT scores came in this morning. I could not be happier. :D

SAT, Act 2

I took the SATs again this morning. Good times. No, seriously, let me explain. Although this is only my second time taking the test, and I didn’t take a lengthy and expensive practice course, I wasn’t fatigued by the test like my previous experience. This isn’t to say that I did any better on any of the sections (critical reading, mathematics, and writing), but I didn’t feel like I wanted to die at any point during the test.

Scores go live on the CollegeBoard website on October 25. Without a doubt, there will be a revealing post that afternoon.

RSS, SAT, OMG!

I believe that doing a little of something at a time is better than a lot of it at once. Of course, I occasionally don’t follow the idea. I sometimes cram for tests, prepare for meetings at the last minute, or complete projects the night before they’re due. One thing I do daily, however, is prepare for the SAT.

The CollegeBoard, which for now I will reserve judgement of, offers a service called “The Official SAT Question of the Day”. It’s exactly like it sounds, but I have a major criticism of it. It doesn’t use RSS for its questions.

RSS, Really Simple Syndication, allows one to “subscribe” to content on the web. That is, rather than a person manually checking for updates, one’s web browser, or an online service like Google Reader does it instead. Rather than checking 17 different sites daily, Google Reader tells me which ones have updates, saving me time. I even put a bookmarklet titled “Next” in my browser to quickly ‘shuffle‘ between my favorite sites.

CollegeBoard, put some RSS into your Question of the Day! It’d be so much more usable for people who pride themselves in online efficiency. You do support online efficiency, don’t you?

Senior Year SAT

I’m deciding whether to take the SAT again on October 6 or on November 3. I lean toward October 6, simply because it’s earlier.

I’m of the foolish notion that I’m going to try to raise both my Critical Reading and Mathematics scores with this test. My writing section was pretty wonderful, so I don’t think it can go much higher.

Thoughts?
