April (Really)

Yesterday’s April post was my April Fool’s day joke. If you didn’t realize that, shame on you. Do you really think I’d post cute pictures of stuff for a month straight? That’s what Cute with Chris is for.

Continuing my Resolution Experiment, this month involves calling it quits. No, I’m not going to get rid of any responsibilities. I simply vow to stop working each night at 10 p.m., if possible. I think this will motive me to get my work (and play) done early and get more sleep. And yes, I’ll see what I can do about my Twitter addiction. I may have to adjust the time at some point, but that’s okay. Remember, it’s the effort that counts.

Again, you’re welcome to join me.

February Thoughts

I’ve pinpointed the basic premise of my resolution experiment for February. I’m going to drink more water, eat smaller portions of meals, and exercise daily. I feel that these three things are doable – and even fun.

Here goes.

January Conclusion

For January, I vowed not to talk about people behind their backs. For the most part, it worked. I completely recommend everyone to try this out. You’ll feel better about yourself.

Quick January Resolution Update

So far, so good. My January resolution is to curtail negative commentary about others behind their backs and elsewhere. Although it sounds trivial and lame, I just feel better so far. Anyone have any resolutions of their own that they’d like to share?

Tell me you haven’t given up already. If you have, you owe it to yourself to try again. A resolution is an effort, not a take-all commitment.

January Resolution

Happy New Year, everyone!

To start off this new year, my January resolution is to modify a behavior I have. It’s not a dominant trait in my life, but it happens enough to bother me. I aim to not talk negatively about people behind their backs.

I recognize that it’s necessary to talk about people while they are not present, but I specifically resolve to not criticize anyone gratuitously.

2008 New Year’s Resolution

A year is a long time. It’s around three hundred sixty-five days on our Gregorian calendar. By my unscientific estimate, most people forget their new year’s resolution a few months into the new year. Wouldn’t that time be better spent spacing out several small-scale resolutions – temporary efforts that add up to much more than the sum of their parts?

I think so. At least, it’s worth a shot.

I resolve to make a distinct effort to better myself each month of this year. Rather than resolving one change in my behavior and life for the entire year, I’ll break it up into twelve pieces. I’ll do my best to carry out that resolution for the entire month and perhaps take it further. One resolution may be painfully serious, and the next one seemingly insignificant. But, twelve small things are better than one incomplete thing, right?

Last year, my problem was that I resolved to do too many things. To add to the problem, those things were basically immeasurable. This year, I’ll be doing lots of things, but only one at a time. It certainly sounds like a fun experiment.

You should probably join me. It can’t hurt. If you’d like to join me, post your January resolution in the comments.
